What happens if someone makes a phonecall to my virtual SMS number?

By default: nothing.

To receive calls you can setup a call forwarding number in the settings from your virtual SMS number.

• go the "settings" from your virtual SMS number
  
• go to "call forwarding"
  
• add your number in international format without leading +
